Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari Wrap Up Testing: Here Are the Lap Times
Red Bull Racing, McLaren, and Ferrari have wrapped up the second day of Pirelli’s tyre test at Mugello Circuit in Italy. Following a day of heavy rain and poor weather, Lando Norris, Liam Lawson, Charles Leclerc (in the morning), and Carlos Sainz (in the afternoon) took to the track to gather data for the Formula 1 tyre supplier.
Red Bull and Ferrari concentrated on testing tyres for the 2025 Formula 1 season, while McLaren experimented with prototype tyres intended for the 2026 season. Lando Norris drove a modified car, as the 2026 tyres are narrower. These tyres are just one of many components that will change with the new rules and regulations set to take effect in 2026.
Who set the fastest time in the F1 test?
The track remained wet during the first hour, prompting drivers to start on intermediate tyres. They switched to dry-weather tyres for the remainder of the session. Unlike previous testing days affected by poor weather, Pirelli was able to gather extensive data, with a total of 390 laps recorded.
Lando Norris recorded the most laps during the test, completing 118 with a best time of 1:21.302. He was followed by Liam Lawson with 116 laps and a time of 1:23.219, Charles Leclerc with 79 laps at 1:21.053, and Carlos Sainz with 77 laps and a time of 1:21.890.
The 2025 F1 tyres will undergo further testing on October 25 during the second free practice session for the Mexican Grand Prix. Development for the 2026 tyres will continue in mid-November, with Alpine set to complete laps for Pirelli on November 13 and 14 at the Magny-Cours Circuit in France. This testing will take place during a brief break in the F1 calendar, ahead of the final triple-header starting in Las Vegas on November 23.
